Because dry, flaky, irritated skin can be quite uncomfortable, I formualate this one to help me when I got into some poison ivy on our property. The itch from the urushiol, the oil that causes the plant's infamy, was intense and knowing it was going to last for at least a week motivated me to find some that would work for me. So, of course the properties of each oil, system affinities, and the studies that supported the use of each oil were considered, and in some cases eliminated, from the final formula.

Because I didn't want to use an anhydrous formula, and I wanted the formula to be light, I settled on a thick lotion, using oils that are low on the comedogenic scale.
